Heaven or Hell

After you die, you somehow appear in a mystical room with two doors and two keepers inside. One of the doors leads to Heaven and the other door leads to Hell. One of the keepers is always lying and the other keeper is always saying the truth. If you can ask one of the keepers whatever question you want (you don’t know which keeper is lying and which one is truthful), how can you find your way to Heaven?

You can point your finger to one of the two rooms and ask any of the keepers the question “If I ask the other keeper whether this room leads to Heaven, would he say YES?”. If the answer is NO, go through that door, if the answer is YES, go through the other one.

  1. I’ve heard this joke a million times. Ask either of them, “which door would your sister say?” and then pick the opposite door. If you ask the lier, even if you don’t know if it’s her, she’ll say her sister(truth person) will pick the wrong door for her. If you talk to the truth person(unknowingly), she’ll know that the lier will pick the wrong door and tell you that. So, no matter which person, all you need to do is pick the opposite door.

  2. I would just ask them both a simple arithmetic problem. Even as simple as what’s 1+1.

    1. Hi Warsame. This will help you figure out which keeper lies and which keeper says the truth, but you won’t know which room leads to heaven and you won’t have any more questions left.

    1. exactly- you could just ask one of them, what colour are my eyes or something

        1. Hey Danielle. There was a mistake in the formulation of the problem. This approach does no longer work.
