Assuming the water from the tap is pouring slower than it is flowing through the connecting tubes, which tank will get full first?

Once the water in tank one is high enough to reach the pipe, it will flow into tank two, which will do the same into tank three. Since the pipe that will transport water from tank three to tank four is high and strangely shaped, tank three will fill up before being able to move water into tank four.


I am making 2 assumptions: 1. The tanks don’t have lids (indicated by the open tops.) 2. The top of Tank 3 appears to be just a bit lower than tank 4. Give those assumptions, then Tanks 1, 2, and 4 will never fill. Tank 3 will start to overflow before tank 4 fills. The water levels in Tanks 2 and 4 will only ever reach as high as the top of tank 3.
