Trotsky’s Killer

August 20, 1940

Leon Trotsky, an enemy of Josef Stalin, had been in exile for 11 years. On this day, a Soviet assassin entered Trotsky’s house in Mexico City and hit him in the head with an ice axe. He died the next day.

Here is a group of suspects who were rounded up. Each wrong suspect has one different feature from the correct suspect. Who killed Trotsky?

The killer of Leon Trotsky was Ramón Mercader.

There must be one man who is having one difference with all the rest of them. Let us make a grid 3×3 and number the columns 1 2 3 and the rows a b c. Put a dot on that guy’s box whom you are considering presently, and write the no. of differences with that guy with others in the respective grid boxes, then just see which box is having the value 1 always, that should be the answer
